---------------------------------------- Economy/Business News Alert: Stock markets plunge after Fed action on bonds September 22, 2011 10:13:01 AM ---------------------------------------- Markets worldwide tumbled Thursday as the global economic outlook appeared increasingly shaky, with investors fearing for the fate of European banks, Chinese growth and a dour new outlook on the U.S. economy from the Federal Reserve. The blue-chip Dow Jones industrial average was down about 306 points, or 2.8 percent in morning trading, while the broader S&P 500 index fell about 31 points, or 2.6 percent.
