Boehner to hold vote on fiscal cliff 'Plan B'

House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) plans to tell fellow Republicans this morning that he will introduce a "Plan B" bill that will raise taxes on Americans earning more than $1 million annually, according to senior aides.

The Speaker plans to continue negotiating with President Obama on a broader agreement, but Boehner feels the need to move forward on a plan to avert the "fiscal cliff" with precious days remaining until a series of tax increases and spending cuts takes affect, aides said.

Despite voting on this alternative plan, "we're leaving the door open wide for something better," Boehner plans to tell fellow Republicans, according to prepared remarks provided by aides.
