Geithner proposed Hillary Clinton for Treasury Secretary

In spring of 2011, Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner proposed Hillary Clinton as a successor for his job, current and former administration officials said.

The White House vetted the idea and received positive feedback. But President Obama ultimately convinced Geithner to stay in his post.
