D.C.-area executive resigns as White House's chief technology officer


The nation's first chief technology officer plans to step down from his White House job, according to administration officials.

Aneesh Chopra, tapped to serve as the first White House chief technology officer, is stepping down in the near future; a formal announcement is expected later Friday.

The news was first reported by FedScoop.

Chopra is part of a trio of D.C. area tech and business heavyweights hired by President Obama at the start of his term to address government management and technological concerns.
