variant of a Trojan Microsoft calls Popureb digs so deeply into the
system that the only way to eradicate it is to return Windows to its
out-of-the-box configuration, Chun Feng, an engineer with the Microsoft

'If your system does get infected with Trojan:Win32/Popureb.E, we advise

[0]rlseaman writes "UTC ("Coordinated Universal Time") is very close to
being [0]redefined to no longer track Earth rotation. Clocks everywhere

'American Scientist' says: 'Before atomic timekeeping, clocks were set to
the skies. But starting in 1972, radio signals began broadcasting atomic
seconds and leap seconds have occasionally been added to that stream of
atomic seconds to keep the signals synchronized with the actual rotation
of Earth. Such adjustments were considered necessary because Earth's
rotation is less regular than atomic timekeeping. In January 2012, a
United Nations-affiliated organization could [1]permanently break this
link by redefining Coordinated Universal Time.'"

Tx-0 writes in with a story in Colossal Art & Design. From the article:
"Industrial designer and tinkerer [0]Markus Kayser spent the better part
of a year building and experimenting with two fantastic devices that
harness the sun's power in some of the world's harshest climates. The
first he calls a Sun Cutter, a low-tech light cutter that uses a large
ball lens to focus the sun's rays onto a surface that's moved by a
cam-guided system. ... Next, Kayser began to examine the process of 3D
printing. Merging two of the deserts most abundant resources, nearly
unlimited quantities of sand and sun, he created the Solar Sinter, a
[1]device that melts sand to create 3D objects out of glass."

connections around specific groupscolleagues, projects, or groups of
friendswith the ability to use high-quality video chats and a unique and

[0]CWmike writes "In a move with far-reaching privacy implications, the
U.S. Supreme Court has decided to hear a case involving [1]the
government's authority to conduct prolonged GPS tracking of suspects in
criminal cases without first obtaining a court warrant. The government
has argued that it has the authority to conduct such searches; privacy
advocates have argued that such tracking violates Fourth Amendment
protections against unreasonable search and seizure. The Supreme Court's
decision in the case will be pivotal because lesser courts around the
U.S. have appeared split on the issue in recent years, with some
[2]upholding warrantless GPS tracking and others rejecting it. Last
August, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia circuit
sided with the subject of the Supreme Court hearing, Antoine Jones, a
Washington, D.C. man who was convicted in 2008 on charges of possessing
and conspiring to distribute more than 50 kilograms of cocaine, and
[3]rejected claims by the government that federal agents have the right
to conduct around-the-clock warrantless GPS tracking of suspects."
