Metro said delays on the Red Line will be "possibly significant" in both directions after a crack in the electrified rail was discovered between the NoMa-Gallaudet and Rhode Island Avenue stations.
The agency had to take one of the two Red Line tracks out of service and trains will be single-tracking between NoMa-Gallaudet and Fort Totten until repairs can be completed.
Metro advised riders to use an alternate travel option, saying no timeline for repairs is currently available.
