Strike averted at nation's key ports

Dockworkers at East Coast and Gulf Coast ports reached a preliminary deal with the U.S. Maritime Alliance Friday, avoiding a work stoppage that could have damaged the nation's fragile economy.

The two sides agreed to extend talks for 30 days to work out remaining issues.
