| | Thursday, January 19, 2012 5:40:25 PM | TECHNOLOGY NEWS ALERT | | | Portions of the Justice Department Web site became inoperable Thursday just hours after federal officials seized and shut down the file-sharing Web site Megaupload.com and arrested several of its executives on charges of violating piracy laws. Anonymous, a group of Internet hackers, claimed responsibility for the attack via Twitter. The Justice Department said in a statement said that Kim Dotcom, formerly known as Kim Schmitz, and three other executives of Megaupload.com were arrested Thursday in New Zealand at the request of U.S. officials. Two other defendants are at large, officials said.
